About the VELDDRIF Fire Fighter Learnerships
The VELDDRIF fire fighter Learnerships aim to equip candidates with practical and professional skills in firefighting, emergency rescue operations, and basic medical care. Key Responsibilities of the Learner Fire Fighter

Qualifications and Requirements

- Physical Tests: Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) and medical test in line with NFPA 1582 standards
- Experience: None required
- Driving License: Code C1
- Languages: Proficiency in at least two of the official Western Cape languages (Afrikaans, English, isiXhosa – speak, read, and write)
- Physical & Mental Fitness: Must be free from phobias related to confined spaces, heights, depths, water, blood, darkness, isolation, and corpses
- Work Requirements: Ability to work shifts, overtime, and in any fire station or fire service facility as directed by the Chief Fire Officer
- Legal Requirements: No criminal record
